I'm a guy who knows more modern cars than the classics, so I'll start with something I know, and I'll try to shy away from Turbo Dodge questions ...

Incorrect, incorrect, incorrect, the first true automobile was not powered by an internal combustion engine, it was driven by an external combustion engine sometime in the 1700's, how's that for a clue ?

Well if you want to say that.
Then I would say Leonardo Da Vinci because he was designing such machines.

There is a guy from France, that for the life of my I cannot remember with out busting out google.

 

France is correct, the inventor and the machine had the same name......Cougnat.

Leonardo did not manufacture such a machine, he drew up plans for one.
