Miata would be the cheapest and most reliable. Although not as fast in a straight line as the RX7 or the 240 (We never got a turbo 240 in the states, I don't know about Canada), the Miata has a perfectly well balanced combination of light weight, handling, breaking, and power. That's what that car is all about, balance. Balance = fun. If you can't have fun in a Miata, you can't call yourself a car enthusiast! And there is a big aftermarket for them. F anyone who calls it a chick car, those are the same people who buy H2's to compensate for their tiny d!ck syndrome. And what does anyone elses opinion matter when you're bombing down a mountain road with the top down?

oh and i believe those 2nd gen rx-7s are FCs
3rd gen = FD
correct me if im wrong

You're correct. Finding a Type 2 (Turbo) FC is pretty damn hard. If you do find one, pray that its not been beaten to death.

None of those cars sound like fun to me. They all sound OLD, and not nearly exciting enough to be worth the maintainence it takes to keep a 10-20 year old car running well. If you're going to buy an old car to have fun with, you're going to be working on it a lot. If you're going to go through all that effort and money, you might as well have something that's actually fun, and not just "sort of sporty".

Since a mustang wasnt on the vote listed i voted for the " 1994 Toyota Supra" not 1988- but the lastest one which is 1994 in your poll. Thoe old ones are ugly

88-94 for Supras you're crossing generations

A MKIV Turbo would be awesome, but that will cost quite a bit not to mention previous owners probably haven't been exactly easy on the car

From that list, a Miata. Don't get something old that you'll be working on all the time, unless that's what you want :)

I would 'reward' yourself staying inside the thread. You could go for an older Cobra too. The interior may not hold together really well, but as a small car guy, I do make the exception for that Ford V8.

I refuse to vote until you add some sort of air-cooled Volkswagen. Rear engine RWD. And fun.

I'd go for an SR20 powered 240, but that's just me, I love those cars.. I also really like the old Supras, its a toss up for me at least.

not true, the newest car I've ever owned is a 1990 and I've had no trouble. It seems that a lot of my friends with much newer cars have more mechanical trouble than I do...it's just how you maintain it. That, and what you buy. Old pontiac=UGH, old Toyota=fine. I take it you've probably had a bad experience with an older car?

Of those options, the Miata by far. It's actually reliable, a lot of fun, and if you up the power you'll have taken away its major disadvantage.
