YACT - Can't get hood open

my pull for my hood latch actually broke off and did the same thing.. What we did was climb under the car and pull the wire through the grill and wrapped it around a piece of copper tubing and taped it with electrical tape and tucked it inside the front grill so it was nice and tight.. and then when i needed to open the hood i just tugged it from there and Ta Da.. it opened!

But I'm not sure, im not a carologists.. im just a girl.

Actuall Twinkletoes, great suggestion! I thought about all that earlier, and was able to screw off the front grille and open it with a pair of needle nose pliars. Went ahead and took it to the a little shop around the corner that some family uses, and he'll re-wire that and my e-brake for next to nothing. A big thank you to everyone for your suggestions on both this and the key problem. You're all my new heroes!
