Well I'm not sure if it would be called drooling exactly. Really the only time this happens is when my cat jumps up on my bed and I brush her using the cat brush. And also when I brush her vigorously, since it is summer time in Boston and she wants all the fur off. Or, if I just put her for a while and she gets into it she will drool as well.

I once told the Vet about this, and she got very alarmed. She said Cats aren't' supposed to drool and she made it sound like it could be the symptom of a problems with her. I just told her the above and said the 'drool' consists of drops of water, or whatever it is, that look like drops of condensation that collects right at the middle of her mouth and just falls out.

Maybe the Vet was looking to run some unnecessary tests or what not. I dunno. But has/does your cat ever done this when they are in a good mood?
 
my dog lays on my bed, licks his paws (missing a little hitting my bed) and then sticks his face in the damp spot and goes to sleep..


Ive never *heard* of cats drooling..
 
It's perfectly normal for cats to drool when they're very happy. Don't ask me why, but there you have it. Your kitty enjoys being brushed and petted, hence the drool.

The only time you have to worry about it is if kitty is drooling constantly.
 
yip, lacy will snuggle up next to me, kneed the bed and leave a big drool spot the smells like cat food. its disgusting and cute at the same time.

Well she is 14. And I can't really remember if she did it when she was younger? But she does seem to of picked up the pace in the last 5 years or so.
 
One of my cats, Oscar, likes to crawl on my lap (or anyone else) while I'm sitting watching TV, and nuzzle his snout into my neck. He then purrs and drools away, and I have to change my shirt because the slime doesn't dry for hours.
