My poor '89 Buick was totalled three weeks ago when I left it parked on the street over the weekend, a hit and run. I've had that thing since college and it still had a good 5 years in it. Oh well. I tried the whole I-live-in-the-city-and-can-get-away-without-a-car thing for a while but I'm prety much over that now. It's time for a new (or new-to-me) car.

I'm not interested in a suv/truck/van and will probably end up in a 4-door of some sort, but I haven't really been paying attention to what's out there. Any recommendations?

$50,000 is too much. $2,000 is too little. I'm a lot of help, I know. 😉

I'm 27, single and need a car. I'm probably looking more in the $25k-$30k range right now.
 
lol, 89' Buick to a rather expensive car? In that price range you can pretty much get whatever you want.

That's the point. That Buick was going to last me forever, but someone ruined the fun. Now that I actually make money (as opposed to my stint in college) it's time to get a real car.

But I don't know what I want, because that Buick was supposed to last me forever. 😉

and gently used cars I'd recommend:

the mazdaspeed3. best car for the money. space, fast, looks good, reliable.

 
Why ask here?
You'll be buying new with that kind of money, go for some test drives ,have some fun!!
Then when you decide what you might like go back loaded with dealer invoicing and deal deal deal
 
I dunno, get something unique, like a used Jaguar or something. Just make sure you can do your own work on it first.

Hyundai is designing their cars after the successful Hondas. The new Hyundai Elantra is redesigned to be similar to the Honda Civic. With a Hyundai you get the looks, the quality, the warranty, and the price.

There are extra 2006 Hyundai Elantras on the lots right now with good discounts. It is not a fancy car but may be something you are willing to look into.

The new Honda Civic is an excellent looking car.

I just purchased a Chevrolet Cobalt 2006 with A/C, manual transmission, and base trim for $12,500 plus taxes, title, registration, and extended warranty, which brought it all up to $14,500.

The Free Maintainance is almost up on that, and whatever problems that may arise will be out of your pocket
