YACT: Audi

I have some friends considering buying a slightly used Audi, somewhere between a 2002 and 2004. I know very little about Audi and their cars so I'd appreciate any information and tips people will more knowledge would be willing to give.

Thanks!

Just a Volkswagen with some extra chrome...which means he'll be selling his body parts to the black market in order to maintain it.

Audi's are nice, very nice...but...it's almost like a "cult" following...VW/AUDI...there are a lot of haters but...****** em...

What Audi in particular?

amen🙂

honda, etc. good but if you don't maintain them(replace timing belts) very well you will get screwed.

chevy=ford better than dodge

Toyo and Honda FTW

i believe those are known as "luxury" vehicles, with the exception of lexus/acura. german cars in general are pretty bad.

i like audis because i don't see them every corner i turn (happens all the time with BMW's, i swear). relatively sleek body design, aggressive as hell grille, sporty a$$-end, best AWD system, highly modable (the 1.8T engine can be pushed pretty hard).

german cars are also very reliable IF, IF, IF, they have been taken well care of (that being the key part). otherwise yes, they will be money sinks. my brother has a 2002 A4 and it's awesome. if you want high performance, look into a used S4 - twin turbo'ed V6 w/ quattro. regular A4's from 2000-2003 should be getting pretty cheap now (probably 20k or less i think). and please, whatever you do, get a manual tranny 😉

Good cars. Great interiors. Reliable if maintained well, but if you're a poor and worried about reliability you shouldn't be looking at Audis anyway. Buy some Toyota/Honda sh!tbox.

What does poor have to do with it? You don't become wealthy by sinking money into a car. Wealthy people usually make good financial decisions, which includes considering the total cost of ownership of a car.

I think he's trying to say poor, as in someone unable to afford a luxury vehicle. The other thing about wealthy people: they can afford luxuries because of their wealth.

.....I wish I was wealthy 🙁

Ok, you're an idiot. Everyone move along now.

Fortunately for me, that's incorrect. Which portion of my post have you oh so eloquently disagreed with?

Yes, but most people on this board have blind adoration for Jap cars and place very little value on an automobile past its ability to get an individual from point A to B, leading to a definite bias against cars like Audis.

My dad leased an 01' Audi A4 a while back and he maintained it so it was great. Smooth ride and it's very nice inside depending on the material used. The climate control was awesome and shifting in it was A++. I still want a car like that to this day, but alas...$
