YACT: Arrggghhh Dodge Van Parts

Normally I am frustrated when locating parts for older vehicles. I usually end up reconditioning used parts for my customer?s classic vehicles if new or reman parts aren?t available. But I would never think I couldn?t? find an A/C clutch and pulley for a 94 Dodge B350 with a 5.2L such a pain in the butt. I?ve called my normal parts store, sorry only a reman compressor is available. I called my A/C parts supplier, sorry only a bare compressor is available. I called the local Dodge dealer; uh I think I can get you a new one but there only one left in the state. To make matters worst there is only a $35 difference between a reman compressor and a new clutch & pulley assemble and the vehicle is an hour away from my shop and my customer doesn?t want to tow it to my shop.

I?ll find out tomorrow if I?m the lucky owner of a new clutch & pulley assemble and then drive out Saturday morning to install it.

BTW, the customer is my Dad so I don?t mind driving out to fix it. 😉

Do you think the AC Compressor is that different between vans, Jeeps, and trucks? Maybe one of the others will work?

Seriously. I had a friend of a friend come over looking for some miscellaneous parts for his Van, and I couldn't find any of it online. I feel your pain.

You would think that but two different vendors didn't even show a listing for a clutch or pulley for my Dad's van.

I also called my local junkyards and a Mopar only yard and they all said good luck.

that's pretty surprising for an american car. i've never had trouble getting parts for my 14 year old accord. or at least my mechanics haven't. 😉

Lucky you, try repairing a 1969 Honda Civic 2-stroke. 🙂
