the reason i put it back to dealership is because i dont think they are as shady as a non-dealer repair shop, but im beginning to think otherwise, are there any good sites that review dealerships and service departments?

thx

i mean as in, not doing work stated
i had my car serviced 2 months ago for 30k service and state inspection, but now my car is having brake problems, how it could pass both 30k and inspection back then is beyond me

dont you all just hate car dealerships and car salesmen and car mechanics? i think they are all out to rip people off

then again its the same with those "PC Technicians" <cough>geek squad</cough> and "computer sales associates" you see in "reputable dealers" such as BestBuy and CompUSA

Dealership wants $140 for a seat belt retractor for my '93 Corolla. :| I think that's criminal.

well when i went in for inspection and 30k insepction they said nothing about my brakes, now they want 700 to replace my "damaged" brake rotors and get new pads for my rear brakes (SUV)

after they done fixing it and when im paying im going to cause a ruckus and ask them why did they not mention that to me when my car was in here twice within 3 months for all these services...

I was looking at the maintenance log book for my car the other day and the oil change interval caught my attention. I don't drive that much and have only accumulated 2600 miles in the past year. The maintenance log book suggests I bring my car in for oil change and check up every 5K miles or 6 months. Edmunds.com shows a regular oil and filter change costs $110 mats and labor. At this rate, I'm changing my oil + filter every 1300 miles and I'm paying $220 a year? WTF? It costs me $30 for oil and filter if I do it on my own (I use Mobile 1 oil and filter), and I do it every 2500 miles.

I think I'm just gonna bring my car in for tune-ups every 5K miles. Oil change every 6 months, that's just ridiculous.

My gf thought you had to change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles, whichever came first. I told her no way, you can easily go 3000 miles first, don't worry about the time.

well, they "suggest" you change your oil every 3 months or 3k miles, whichever one comes first

so if you drove 5 miles in 3months you still need it changed. :roll:mad: these a hole service depts.

i drive a lot, i normally do it 3 months or 4500 miles, whichever one comes LAST

$110 for an oil and filter change?!

$700 for rotors and brakes - on one axle?!

For what it's worth, I had my car inspected 1 month ago. The mechanic said, "here, I want to show you your brakes. They pass inspection, but you don't have much more than about a month of wear left on them. " I thanked him for being honest and pointed out how Monroe would have told my wife, "it's too dangerous to even drive home, in fact, it's soooo dangerous, we have to repair them before you even call your husband." (Not that my wife is that stupid)

So, being a month later, I just stopped at the parts store and picked up the brakes. <reaching for receipt> Ahhh, here it is... $29.49 including tax.
