YACT: annoying problem, easy fix or hard and too expensive?

My 2001 Nissan Sentra's clock/radio display light no longer lights up, which is really annoying...

the lights on the buttons all light up fine and so i thought the bulb was just dead, but this started on Sat. night and after driving for 30 min. Sat. it just came back on.

yesterday and today it has been off even though I was driving for hours...so i think it might be a loose wire

is this gonna be hard or expensive to fix and not worth it even though its really annoying?

I'm guessing most places would replace the radio. Factory radio = $$. If you know anyone with some mechanical ability they could prolly fix it. Its something I would tackle if the opportunity arose.

If you are going to replace it, buy a new deck... its cheaper, and easy to install

I dont know about repairing it, i have never been inside a cd player, but im guessing it wouldnt be easy

In some of the older Ford radios, before the ICP, I could removed the face plate and replace the bulb behind the display. I don't know if this can be done on a Nissan.

People. I think the clock he is referring to is seperate from the stereo in the car. Replacing the car stereo wont fix the problem (btw this happened on my 95 Maxima too)

Problem could be in the stereo, or the problem could be from one of the wires connected to the stereo.
I'd probably check the connections and fuse, but I really doubt they're the problem... they don't tend to go bad (in my experience)
