YACT: a little question about Volkswagen's Touareg ad campaign

isn't it a little contradicting when the ad claims, "Introducing the all new Touareg, going where other Volkswagens can't." (or something like that) that's like stepping on your toes just to get attention....

It's VW's first SUV, and it's an SUV that is QUITE competent off road. I don't see anything contradicting about it.

I agree.... it kinda says "This car is cool. Much cooler than our other one... don't buy our other car, it sucks."

You'd think they'd have compared it to nother manufacturer's car.

It's the only VW capable of going offroad hence it goes where other VWs can't.

As VI Edit stated, it touting the fact that its their first SUV.

well, 'contradictiing" isn't exactly the word I want to use,

what I am trying to say is, VW is belittling their other lines of car just to promote ONE new car?
In the extreme sense, its like VW is trying to convey the idea that their first SUV will kick major ass but their OTHER cars sucks big ones.

I agree with the folks saying that VW is merely saying "this is our SUV and, guess what, it's better at going off road than the other cars we make." 🙂

Not really. Now, if they said it was the first Volkswagen to not chronically break down, then it would reflect badly on their other cars. This ad campaign simply is stating the obvious: you already drive your Volkswagen on the road, now you can have a Volkswagen for offroad as well.

We considered one but with all of the bad word about VW on the net....we will wait. Problems galore have been had with recent VW's on review sites.
