YACT: '98 Ford Escort ZX2 Coupe

With the loss of the turbovan and it's incredible dial-a-mileage feature, I find myself cruising along in a 3/4 ton van sucking up money at the rate of $2 every 10-15 miles. Not. Fvcking. Cool.

My half-sister is selling her 1998 Ford Escort (Black, 5-speed manual, very good condition mechanically and physically, 91500 miles, emissions & inspected as of last week) for $3000. Blue book on this is $2750.

Her boyfriend now-husband is a mechanic and has looked after this thing very well for her.

First, does anyone have an actual mileage figure on this thing, and second, opinions?

The mileage should be around 22-24 city and 28-30 highway. These are very reliable cars and can be modified to be very decent performers.

I have looked at quite a few myself to replace my aging Escort GT.

by 1998 i think Furd had worked most of the bugs out of the Escort. It having a manual transmission is a big plus, the autos in those things were generaly crap :|
Just dont expect it to be perfect and it should be a quite decent car.

What the hell.. a week ago you created a thread talking about how you bought a Ford Escort ZX2. Then the next day you created another thread basically saying the same thing, but also said that you were going to put a turbo on it. Now you're going to buy another one, wtf...
