I know you're out there NutBucket, so I shall thank you ahead of time. :)

I'm putting in a new alternator. The warning label says I should charge the battery before installing. I'm assuming that since my battery is drained, I need to buy a fresh, full, new battery to go with my alternator, correct?

Specs:
1991 Integra RS
138K Miles

Ya know, I didn't think of taking it to Pep Boys and having them charge it first. Problem solved! Thanks HappyPuppy! :)

I've not read that when dealing with alternators tho I've never had a dead battery. I do know that when the alternator in the Accord died many years ago the dealer replaced both the battery and the alternator. However, the battery was due for replacement at the time anyway due to age. If you current battery isn't too old I'd take it to autozone, get it charged/tested and go from there.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!! Is there any way to get this freakin alternator out from the car without taking out the axles and drivetrain and exhaust and everything underneath the car? Took me freakin 4 hours to do this and it's pissing me off. I might have to take it to the stupid shop and get charged for labor. :|

Pic although this is from a civic helms manual, i think the B series engines have simlar placements of the alternator compared to the civic's d-series engine. Remove the drivers side fenderwell plastic stuff so you have more room, jack up that side of the car (and use a jackstand!), remove the wheel, and let the suspension hang so the axle is at its lowest position. If the halfshaft is in the way then..i dunno what to do.
