$8000 for a car over 10 years.....

You must not be a car enthusiast.

It is definately not worth $8k. For that price I'd rather get an 93+ RX-7.

which is 12 years old as opposed to 15? :p

and for $8k you will not find an 3rd gen RX-7 worth keeping. FDs around 50-75k miles are selling for around $15k, the mint ones are even higher since everyone seems to be in the RWD trend so they can go 'drifting'.

RWD trend has always been around, not because we can go "drifting", but because it should be a sportscar's standard. Its the japanese that started the FWD sportscar trend (and some other crap euros)

laws of physics have said that FWD sucks. Will and always will SUCK.

Sorry but there is a bigger trend nowadays which has jacked up prices for RWD cars especially the 240sx. People are hunting down Corolla GTSs because they think it can beat Skylines and Lancer Evos like it did in Initial D.

The people who have been driving RWD sportscars for competition/track use or whatever else are a niche market.

FWD does not suck. It does it's job well, which is to transport people from A to B. It was never intended to replace RWD in high performance vehicles. For what it's worth, a FWD is leading the points in International Touring Car Championship abroad and the Speed Touring Car championship here, an Alfa and an Acura respectively, both over a BMW. Before you or anyone else jumps on my throat about me proclaiming FWD is better than RWD... I'd like to point out that's not what I said.

You could buy a Mazda Protege that's 12 years newer and have money left over. Try to get the ES with ABS for a potential insurance discount (not every ins. co. offers an ABS discount, though). Not fast, but still fun, and nobody will think you're an idiot for spending 10 times more than the average 15 year old car. (Which, for a 19 year old, isn't too smart.)

I'm a Mazda fanboi and have never, EVER heard of the 929 up to now. Just read a review of it. 4 wheel disk brakes and ABS, 190 horsepower and independant suspension? Sounds nice.

However, it was also 41K new in 1991...

What? I thought those things only had like 230-240 HP?

stock, it's very similar to the 300zx. But no one buys a supra and keeps it stock, the 7m-gte engine is highly tunable, 400whp on stock internals is easy. Or swap in a 1jz-gte for 2 grand and leave the 300zx in the dust.

wow you've been playing too much grand tourismo. Swap * in for 2g is not gonna happen, the labor is good 1500 dollars to do that + shipping of the engine + overhead because swaps tend to get more espensive.

I'm not a Mazda fanboy (although I do like some of their cars) and I've heard of it. They are nice cars indeed. I base this on absolutely nothing, but I think it was replaced with the Millenia. Feel free to flame me if I'm wrong.

I'm assuming he does the work himself, $2000 is the cost of an used 1jz. Either way, I just think that the supra is a better platform for racing and tuning.

Fact: FWD is intended for cheap manufacturing process and lowering the price of production, thus lowering the overall price of the car (since the entire drivetrain fits into the front of the car). Nevertheless, IT SUCKS ON TRACK, PERIOD.

Tuning AE-86 has been around since the late '80s, you nubs. AE-86 is a fully group-a racing complied car (same as the e30 m3), it will pwn you on track with a sc, a 20-valver or a 3sge is dropped into the car. People are not hunting down AE-86 because they think it can beat skylines or evos, but maybe because it is funner to drive than a souped up high hp 4wd setup. They also hunt down AE-86 for its rareness, and its easiness to drift, plus the fact that panda paint is hot.

Yes the drifitng trend does help keep the car prices up, but they're in fact great cars that people just never discovered before initial d went on.

btw: go with 1jz, you won't be disappointed. I actaully prefer 1jz over 2jz for its easiness on tuning.
