Generally excellent.

Actaually better than exelent.

My last job had a couple for the techs to drive.

They never had any problems. One was at 140K and had never had anything but regular stuff done. (brakes/ tires)

We were horrible about getting the maint done and they still ran great.

Engine is pretty weak if that's bhp - if that's whp, I can understand the drivetrain loss, though the numbers are still pretty low for a 2.5L.

I'd love to take a look at the heads on the engine.

Subarus are rated around honda/toyota for quality, but get less attention because there are comparitively few of them on the road.

Nice to see that Subaru is importing so many great high-performance cars nowadays, especially ones not as wild and wooly in appearance as the WRX/WRX STi. They have made great strides in interior fit and finish as well. Kudos on a handsome sedan with a peck of performance.

250hp is low for a 2.5L? It has to be reliable as well as fast. Volvo makes like 200hp with their turboed 2.5L.

Unless you live in Seattle, of course. 😀

Nice looking Subaru. 😉

well considering that the sti with the same engine make 300 hp/300 ft lb torque its sorta low..but honestly i believe that subaru will release an m3 killer with 350 hp on the legacy platform

Or Portland 😛

My God, almost every other car around here is a Subaru... makes sense though when you consider the weather and the somewhat-left-of-center demographic.

Not quite Honda/Toyota, but considering that they're AWD and Turboed(more stuff=more possible issues down the road) they're doing a pretty damn good job at keeping them reliable.

I'd say Good would be the right word to use if Excellent was Toyota/Honda. As opposed to say, Fair(GM stuff, some of the Ford stuff) and Bad(Most of the Chrysler stuff...some of the Ford stuff).

Actually I think some of the GM stuff might make it into Good but the long term reliability isn't really out on most of their newer stuff so I can't put them into Good just yet =p

Subaru seems to sit in the Good segment just slightly below companies like Nissan and BMW(Actually I think BMW is ALMOST excellent...soooo very close...they're either on the lower end of excellent or on the very top of Good).

Yeah, they're reliable is the short way to say it =)

And this thing is QUICK regardless of what the rated horsepower is...0-60 is FASTER than the 350z and RX8 and Boxter S! Sure those aren't high end sports cars, but even then they ARE sports cars, and this thing is far bigger than any of those cars. Much quickness is here...mmm

I guess the only X factor left is how it handles...everything else seems to be kickass so far. Maybe Subaru will finally be taking some serious market share soon.

Dude, that's just stupid.

More pics. Little disappointed after seeing some angle shots of the real car. Not as sporty as the artists rendering in the first post.

That's the wagon, not the sedan. I'd want the wagon anyway, it's like a poor man's RS6 Avant.

Reliability wise, how does Subaru compare with Toyota and Honda?

From my experience, I'd say it rates right up there (I've owned two Camry's and a Subaru Outback wagon), but from what others have said, it might only be as good as 90-95% of Toyota. That being said, I don't have any friends whose Subaru's haven't gone 200k miles.

The legacy wagon will fill the parking space when passat wagon is retired.

The decision lies on going with the V6 or the turbo'd 4.

damn that looks better then the WRX.

That's not saying much, the WRX looks like it took a beating from the proverbial ugly stick & ended up with it broken off in the tailpipe. The only thing it has going for it is performance.

haha 😀

Agreed!

The new Legacy is 300 pounds lighter than the previous version, which helps a lot. Everything I have seen so far regarding the handling has been positive.
