I actually would take the lexus... better re-sale value down the road, and maintaince cost would probably be lower as well...

Maybe that's why I'm living in the region, so AUDI or BMW are a nogo discussion topic for me.

I think it'd be true in this case, well the beemer having better resale. Its already taken the price drop from not being new and so won't lose as much over time. Any kind of warranty or anything? I'd probably get neither and go for a G35.

IS300 - 215HP
330Ci - 225HP

Figure in maintenence costs and re-sale value. Remember, the BMW will probably ask for more maintenence compared to the Japanese car. We're going to sell our 95 Volvo just because it's starting to ask for more money in maintenence than we'd like to spend. My dad likes to buy it right and keep it that way for a long time.

Have you driven both? I have and the IS300 doesn't compare to the overall package of the 330. Not even close really. I would think you could get a 2002 330 for the price of a new IS.

Comparing a Lexus and a BMW to a Subaru?!? Isn't that kinda like comparing a Mustang Cobra to an Mercades C class?

Well, considering a Mustang Cobra can kick the $hit out of a c-class, you're analogy is all wrong.

Actually the 330 dynos OVER 220 whp regularly. BMW is very conservative with their HP.

not really. the STI can kick the $hit out of 330 or IS also. but the 330 and IS are more refined and luxurious then the STI. just like the slower C class is more refined and luxurious CObra

That might be true... I forgot to take into account the BMW is used and probably have already took a major hit with the re-sale value...

330i (or was it even the 325i) came out on top in a past road and track magazine, with the is300 in second i believe.

so i'd go with the 330i. maintenence is not that much really.
