Get yourself a used Honda or Subaru, maybe older but shouldn't be many more miles.

I wouldn't trust a Ford past 100K without serious work on it. My 97 Subbie Legacy GT has 206K miles on it (Not all by me :p) and the only things that have broken are what I broke :p

Note: The head gaskets for 95-97 Legacy's are notorious for blowing, a defect as I understand it. If you look at one of those, see if its been replaced yet.

EDIT: As my girlfriend says (Who DOES know a thing or two about cars), "Dude, its a Ford" LOL

they're both Ford's as far as im concerned, and despite what you may think Fords are actually incredibaly reliable
A Ford/GM at 150K that's reliable would be a stroke of luck. Again, if the Mustang already had a lot of work done it might be ok...but then again I wouldn't buy a V6 Mustang. What's the point? Handling isn't great, no better than your average coupe/sedan on the market today, V6 isn't exactly fast in that car, and it has about the shittiest/tiniest interior out there. I just wouldn't do it...

It has been proven that American cars (not all) tend to be more unreliable than the foreign cars. .

Wrong. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/29/j-d-...long-term-vehicle-dependability-study/

To fbrdphreak, I'd like to point out that people who say domestics are more unreliable and in the next breath mention how Subaru engines eat head gaskets are not showing themselves as being vehicle reliability experts.

Be prepared to replace head gaskets on that Mustang V6. The 3.8L is notorious for them leaking.

EDIT: And they're horribly slow.

In all fairness that was only one generation of engines that were made for 3-4 years or so that had headgasket problems;)
