My sister is looking at a 2000 Ford Focus, not sure what model but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these cars or knows anything about them???

It has 79K miles and looks to be in pretty good condition...

Anyone?

Yep, I own a 2001, though. I'm now at 69K+ miles I think, the thing still handles like a dream. But I also keep good care of it with scheduled oil changes and whatever. The only things I wish could change is that they don't have a light in the glove box, and it looks like the lever on the passanger seat that allows backseaters to go in (in the ZX3 at least) looks like it breaks off at some point in time.

It also has a low resell value, so be sure to look into the KBB for a good estimate of how much you'll be paying. Other than that, I wish I could tell you more provided what kind of Focus you're looking at and pics of interior and exterior.

I have never found KBB to be a good indication of what you should be paying

Sounds crazy, but I often go to ebay, look up the model I am searching for, click completed listings, and check out the prices that they are sold for

I find Edmund's TMV to be pretty accurate...of course adjusting for higher or lower than average mileage

I have two Sisters-in-law that have them and both have had never ending troubles. Might just be two lemons, but who knows. One was a 2000, the other a 2001.

Avoid the 2000 Focus like the plague, these cars have been recalled at least a dozen times. More recent Focus, like 2003 to 2005 are better.

I have a 2001 and its had so many problems. To be fair though, they were all relatively minor, but still a pain in the @ss I say. Also, its a pretty damn rough ride in that tiny car.

Well, my sister went ahead and bought it. Paid $5300.

Oh well, not my money/problems.

Poca, can you tell me about a few of the recalls? The only one I could seem to find on Google was the front suspension bolt that caused the car to shutdown...
