YACT: $149 cars?

Tomorrow a local used car dealer will be supposedly having a HUGE CLEARANCE sale tomorrow from 8-5 where they will have 10 different cars for $149. I was considering geting one of these cars as long has it has 4 wheel and turns on. I tried to get a 96 maxima from the same guys, but they wanted a pretty insane markup. My 91 POS jetta needs some work done in order to pass insecption, and i am just sick of sinking money into it. Would it be insane to buy a 150 dollar car?

Make sure it has an engine and not just a piture of an engine where the engine should be before buying 😉

Step one.
Confirm that car has an engine.

What's the catch?

Obviously the cars must be old cars... i mean as long as they run and the engine/body isnt in that bad of a shape i could care less. I am not quiet sure what the "catch" is though.

The trick is that the cheap cars are done on a lottery system, and you basically have to hang out at the place all day long.

At least thats how they go here, the local news did a little deal on it.

Bingo... well if the car is a good one, i would be glad to hang out there all day if i have to in order to get it. For 149 bucks and if its anything newer than a 90 i would be happy.

Its basically a way to get rid of some cars they would just auction off for almost nothing anyway and get a bunch of people to come down and buy more expensive cars.

I have a 500 dollar coupon that pops up after you leave there website... i should pull a Rossman and bring it with me... damnit i want to be paid to buy the car!!!!! If they did have on for say $600 wouldn't they have to honor the 500 off.... it does say ANY car.

It's probably exactly as bad as your $150 Jetta.

If you want the same sh!t, different color, sink your $150 and see what you get. It could pay off, it could be a loss.

Remember, the $150 doesn't include tax, title, plates (if necessary), phony dealership documentation fees, etc.

Cheap cars suck, you will probably have problems worth of many thousand of $ with a car that sells for $150.

WTF?! 140 for a car?!?! ehhh....

cheaper than ur regular 160 gig hdd?!...

is this a gov't/police auction?....cuz they do that no?...but i see u put down it's a dealer...aha wtf...

EDIT: hey waitaminute...that's the same place where u had a thread awhile ago about u buying that maxima....puahahhaha car salesmen are evil eh?! and that 500 dollar coupon still pops up!!! roar!

Well???

IT would probably would have cost more to dispose of them... don't buy it. It's not worth it. Imagine having to shell out the money to replace the air conditioning, all the cracked windows, new carburator, etc...

I've heard of someone that collected enough $100 coupons to get a free car. :Q
There was no fine print on those coupons either. 😛

Once my uncle went to a dealership for a sale and they said 500 off all cars on the lot, he asked about the 700 dollar mitsubishi hatchback. He ended up getting this car for like 300 somthing, the car was mint hehe, he ended up using it while his son took his camery..lol

If its like the lots that do that here all those cars will be gone 15 mins after opening.

The cars aren't automatically junk just because they are selling them cheap. Like I said before they just take some older cars that people traded in and sale them way below book just to attrached people down to the lot. Usually several mid to late 80s domestics like crown vics and impallas are the norm here.
