I got this letter from Comcast announcing the new MyDVR service. It lets you program your Comcast DVR from the web in your browser.

So I go to comcast.net/mydvr and log in and give them my address. It says its available in my area!

But I don't see anywhere to download it, our use it.

I hunt thru their faq. Buried in there are a list of dvr's it works with. Unfortunately not only do I not have one on the list, none of the ones on the list are available in my area, as per Comcast "tech support".

After three calls to "tech support" someone finally admits I can't get it in my area. Despite what the letter says, despite what the website says.

Comcast vaporware. When announced products are too good to actually be real.

yeah their service is pretty horrible. They told me about the free wireless n router but it's not even available in my market.

just because it's not available doesn't mean they can't add it to the pile of spam and claim "woohoo look at all the new services we roll out!"

If it makes you feel any better, it is available in my area and I use it. It is AWESOME!

they must be getting xfinitely better because i just got an offer in the mail where theyd give me the priviledge of "locking in" my rate for 2 whole years!!!!

Yeah comcast's portal is suck.

When I was upgrading to triple play the free iTouch showed up in my cart when I was already logged into the web site. It came up as an 'upgrade' option after paying my bill.

They wouldn't honor it. It wasn't worthwhile to fight so I worked out some discounts on the service.

Comcast is great if you:
- use very little Internet
- don't download huge files in short time frames
- don't mind being lied to
- don't mind being raped on your billing on a monthly basis (even after they fixed "the problem")
- have Cox or some other ISP
