I've had my trusty Camry for about 10 years and all I've done is replace the factory Radio/Cassette unit with a Blaupunkt CD unit 6 years ago.

This is what I purchased so far:
CD/MP3 Head Unit: Pioneer DEH 5500MP
Subwoofer: Polk/MOMO MM12

What I think I will need:
5-Channel Amplifier: Precision Power PCX5800?
Front Speakers: Infinity Reference 6002si
Rear Speakers: Infinity Kappa 692.5i

And maybe if I can scrape up a few more pennies a DSP/Equalizer?: Pioneer DEQ9200

Any suggestions?...did I leave anything out? I already added an alarm/pager system years ago.

your rear speakers

dont buy anything nice for them

where do you sit? up front? thats what i thought! where does a concerts sound come from? up front? thats what i thought. with "rear stage" yor sound stage becomes moved from the front, to the middle of your car, and you want everything upfront

if you NEED to have rear speakers just find some cheap 20$ ones and put them in there

then you would only need a 4 channel amp and try www.edesignaudio.com for some NICE avionixx amps

800.4 = 200watts x 2 + 400 watts (bridged 3rd and 4th channel) for your sub

or the 400.4 = 100x2 and 200x1 i believe.

what's wrong with having good rear speakers too? I want my rear passengers to enjoy it too :D

Actually, now that I understand what you're saying, I sort of agree. My friend was telling me to get separate components for the front. But I sort of want to keep the stock look to an extent. If I'm gonna pump this much money in this upgrade, I'm not putting $20 speakers in the rear. But thanks, I'll check out the avionixx amps too.

I may get a 4-channel amp for the front/rear combination instead and a separate 2-channel class-D mono amp for the sub incase I get a second MM12. Depends how crazy I'm feeling with the credit cards

Are there any reviews for Avionixx amps? They look kinda cheap to me.

I think I'll stick to well known brand like Precision Power.

A larger car will benefit for the passenger enjoyment with rear speakers. You can always fade them out when you are in the front alone....

You probably overpaid on the MOMO setup....it's a nice sub though, I have Polk DX10 in my car (small 2 door) and people think I have two 12's when I turn it up....I mostly keep it at a 'real' setting for natural reproduction.

I am running a low budget set up, my headunit being the most pricey item.

Kenwood Excelsion 858
Bazooka P250 amp (55W x 2) powering two Crystal CPe60t's (separates)
MTX RT2160 (400Wx1) powering a single sealed Polk dX10
1F generic cap
nice wiring, $17 RCA's from sounddomain.com (MUSICA200 by streetwires which were about $40 each retail)....couple nice but cheap fuse blocks and ground blocks from sounddomain.com also.

Sounds good, plays louder than I can tolerate and clean. Only thing I'd change would be the sub to a Audiophile EVO 10" and then see how it does.

I like to avoid multi amps, unless that can be made into a 1 or 2 channel later on.

.

I lucked out with the Polk/MOMO MM12. Yeah, they are overpriced at Crutchfield for $379, but I got it for $130 after a $50 rebate from CCity...they still have them on clearance now for $199, but the rebate expired on 9/30. Kinda wished I picked up a second one.

Your 'low budget' setup sounds pretty good to me :)

The DSP is mainly for looks....just wanna plug that second DIN slot that I've been staring at for 10 years ;)

Why not get the Infinity Kappa 63.5i for the front speakers?

That sucks..... in that case what about these... Infinity Kappa 60.5cs

it'll still look pretty stock. the tweaters are tiny. you can barely see em.

Hmmm...you're right about that. I do like the Kappa series. I'm beginning to wonder about Crutchfield's vehicle selector app, it doesn't list it as one of the 8 choices. I think I'm gonna mosey on to www.camryman.org and see what other setups other owners have been able to do.

I think your right...I'll need something in the 300-500W range. Maybe a mono sub amp is the way to go.

"That 200w" will be fine for that sub, unless you are looking for a TON of bass. I have the PPI PC6600, and it pushes a polk 12" just fine. PPI lists their RMS wattage instead of peak, like many other companies. The PPI 5800 will be fine. My only reccomendation is instead of 6.5 coaxes for the front, get a component set for the front. Here is my set up, and it rocks :p

Sony MP70 HU
MB Quart 6.5 in front with 1" tweets
MB Quart 6.5 coax's in back
Polk EX series 12"
PPI PC6600 6 channel 600 watt amp

Doesnt look bad to me. PPI amps are very nice. Avionixx are very nice as well. I probably wouldnt get a Polk, but on the whole not bad.
Rear fill is mainly personal preference unless you compete. If you dont compete, its completely up to you if you want it or not.
