Maybe this is wrong forum, I am not sure. If it is, I'll post elsewhere. But I have this problem and hope you can help me with it...

I have an HP Pavilion ze5345US Notebook (about 1.5 yrs old). I last left my computer in hibernate mode. When I came back, the computer was not responding to me trying to wake it up. So I powered off. Powered it back on and there is nothing but a blank screen (computer remained on though). I have to hard power it off again. Turn on, and I see the Windows XP loading screen for a few seconds and then the screen goes blank (computer remains on). After several more power boots, I get into Windows to get a necessary document just in time before the screen goes blank again. The screen is still showing up as blank now when booting up.

Any ideas?

I don't know. That's what I was thinking at first...I switched outlets, not that that helps if it is a power supply problem.

But then I tried running just off the battery itself and not the power supply and same problem.

the guys in the tech support forum are really good at helping out issues like these, it just takes a little longer. As an upside, you don't get the random garbage in your thread that you would in OT.

That being said, I would check the power supply as suggested, but also make sure that your case isn't getting too hot as well. A broken heatsink fan can cause these types of problems on occasion.

If your PC can't get laid or it was in a car wreck, then it might be a good place to post. Otherwise I would try the support forum.

it sounds like a bad battery along with a bad connection with the AC adapter.
Probably either needs a new AC adapter or the connection jack is fuxxored.

There is a button that you can press usually to check the battery life check and see if it's empty

I think that you have a problem with the backlight in the display..........
Try connecting it to an external monitor.

That would be my first thought as well... Plug it up to an external monitor and see what happens. It could be the backlight on the LCD going bad, or maybe the video card... That's what I would do first.

OK. It is really my sister's computer, but was easier to write the problem in my point of view as owning the notebook. That was my first suggestion at her house, but she did not have a monitor at the house. I can try that today though.
