YACI(nsurance)T! Which car insurance do you have?

Hello ATOT, at the moment we are thinking about dropping Mercury through our Galpin broker and getting another car insurance (plan? agent? not sure what you would call it). Which one would you recommend or which one do you have? Which is the least harsh on a new, 16 year old driver (with no record and a high GPA [4.0+]). My mom is thinking about getting insurance through Costco. Your opinions? Thanks!

the cheapest that I found is safeco.

although I heard with farmers, they have many discounts if you ask. 10% for multi car 10% for non smoker, 10% for non drinker, 10% for home policy also

and then, high gpa, driving school.

go check it out.

Insurance is different for everyone, more so than anything else. Example... Fobot says geico is the carrier of choice; however geico wanted to bill me 3700 for the same policy state farm carries for me at 480. (6 months both quotes). Others say State Farm sucks; I say they don't. Bottom line... you absolutely must shop around, because insurance companies suck ass and have no rhyme or reason or consistency. Don't ya just love it?

Yeah, if you can get USAA it really is great.. need to have Military (maybe US service as well) in the family though.

IIRC, at the minimum your parent needs to have served in the armed forces.

We'll get a quote from all these companies. We're specifically looking for one that will be lenient on a 16 year old (me) with a good record and high grades. Anybody know of any car insurance that has this?

One of my uncles served in the US Army, but that's it.

I have allstate for my car and liberty mutual for my home. There will be a shootout between them in january for control of both.

I use Farmers (not state farm - a completely different group) and they have been really good at pricing and handling claims with me since 16. Their rates arent the lowest but they seem to handle things fast and well.

I've got AAA (southen and then northern california). They were cheaper for my TSX by far than the other carriers I checked out. They charge for 12 months (1700) what others wanted for 6 months!

I've only had to make one claim years ago when somebody ran in to my car then when it was parked. All went well with the claim, so I haven't had any problems with them.

AAA seems pretty good by the replies of this thread. I noticed nobody has Mercury insurance. 😱 Maybe they do suck after all, lol.

I use esurance since they are very cheap. They don't seem to have the best customer support, so when you call, many times you just leave a message and a "licensed agent" will return your call.
