just a question:

What does CCC do what i can;t do with ati tray tools ?

I really enjoy downloading only the drivers without CCC and net2.0 and i control all settings with ati tray tools and have no problems.

it lets you use crossfire.

Funny thing is I thought CCC was fine till I got crossfire. I can't use the PC for the first 30 seconds. I guess its enabling crossfire or something @ the begining.

:SIGH::

Comeon ATI, get rid of CCC and start something fresh and new.

QFT. I don't know a single owner of the X1900 who likes the CCC. Tray Tools seems so much easier, takes less space, etc. Even Nvidia is making their driver control panels more and more like ATI's CCC. Why?

Microsofts model for driver interface for vista, unfortunately.

Both. It's not so much slowing down the rest of your computer as CCC itself is slow.

For me, those extra seconds loading CCC count. I am really anal about having things lag, even slightly so CCC is a pain in the ass for me. And I don't need to see the effects of aliasing or filtering in real time when I move the slider in CCC, arghhhh! That's why my Windows XP is set on "performance" without all the eyecandy.

I guess it's more of a feeling people get. We can sit here and benchmark CCC and no CCC and there will be little difference in terms of numbers. 2 seconds as opposed to 4 maybe? But the feeling I get while using CCC is probably the same feeling you'd get if all of a sudden Mozilla Firefox took 4 seconds to load.

Not only that but the fact that overclocking isn't as friendly when using the CCC. I have much more control over my video card with a combination of both ATI Tool and Tray Tools rather than having the CCC do "alright" at both.

The preview can be turned off, and you can turn off the skins as well, to shave a bunch of MB off the RAM usage and cut load times.

But I think we're going to have to live with it... I think even Nvidia is moving towards .NET.

In my system, AA and AF does work on games unless ATI's CCC is running in the background. What I mean is the CLI.EXE has to be running.

I tried ATI Tray Tool + ATI Video Driver only, but the AA+AF does not work.
