YACAT: Subwoofer question

Here's the question. I have a 450 watt amp, non bridgeable, and a 12" MTX sub. When I plug the sub into the amp its almost as if it is a 2 way speaker. Plays both low and mid or whatever. How do I get around this? Is there some equipment I need to buy or...? Thanks for any and all help 🙂

You need a low pass filter. It passes the low frequencies and blocks the high one's. Some amps come with them built in, some head unit's have them built in too. If you don't have either, you can buy one or make your own out of parts.

If the amp or deck doesn't have a LPF built in, the Harrison FMODS will do the trick.

I remember my first amp years ago required a crossover as well, then you'll be able to crank the serious bass in that sub.
