like i said, the only reason to get an xbox is to play halo with 15 of your closest friends. if you don't have that many xboxes, tvs, of friends, then the xbox sucks.

I have both in my dorm room, and the only thing I use the PS2 for is dvd's. To me, the PS2 was the biggest waste of money ever. Halo with 4 players is addicting as anything, and we play it all the time. It never gets old, but I am currently looking for another good 4 player game (maybe Unreal Championship if it is good). Anyways, if it will only be you playing it then either one is good, but if there are alot of people coming over to wherever you live then without a doubt Xbox.

Have you even tried Live?
If not...then you are simply talking out of your ass.

Not that I'm at all surprised...
yes, in fact i have.
and i have also owned 2 xbox.or should i say port-box.
u are so obviously the biggest xbox fanboy on here, i cannot recall a post of yours that wasnt xbox related.
I cannot recall a post of yours that hasn't been about GC....so what?
It's not really surprising that the majority of my posts are about Xbox, since I don't personally own the others, after deciding they were subpar to the Xbox before I purchased.
That decision was made for several reasons, which have been posted more times on AT than you can prolly count without taking off your socks.

And I have no problem pointing out the strengths of any console, whether I own it or not.
Which have also been posted on these forums before.

Unfortunately, Nintendo's lunchbox leaves me utterly cold.
Get over it, whiner.

GayCube has some good 1st party games.
If I ever bought a GayCube (not gonna happen) it would be for Metroid, and nothing else.
But the Crayola controller would still svck monkey nuts IMO.

However, it is a FACT that Nintendo (and Sony for that matter) have been totally and utterly owned by MS and Xbox Live in the realm of online console gaming.
And whether you are interested in it personally is of literally no consequence to the thousands of people kicking each others asses every night on XBL.
So feel free to stick your head in the sand (or whatever other suitable dark dank place you enjoy placing it) just as Nintendo and Sony execs have been doing about online gaming.
talking out your ass is better than being the megaphone for a company free of charge.
You've owned yourself far better than anyone else could with that comment.

Far be it from me to keep you from talking out of your rear end if you really enjoy it that much.

I'm just disappointed you aren't on XBL so I could smear you all over the various maps in MA.

BTW: None of the above applies to ohtwell, because our smack-talk is just between friends, much like the WWE.
BTW2: Well, except for the "smear you all over MA" part.
BTW3: Regardless, I defeated the EPR in unarmed combat the other night, so she must now give up all things Nintendo FOREVER! 😛

that isnt the only thing you smear i'll bet.
bigshot on xboxlive.*wow*:Q
i think they have a trophy @ 7-11.
BTW Check the Worldwide sales figures for ALL systems.

The XBox cannot compete with the sheer variety of games the ps2 has to offer.there are no less than 20 exclusives to that system that are grade AAA.Developers that are not on xbox..even after 1 year and a half on the market. Then with Live pay $50 in addition to my broadband account to play games i payed $50 for?Hell no.My PC does online just fine,no wonky controller neccesary.
In Russia or wherever the hell you are, it is apparent the xbox owns you, flamebait.

I don't ever recall him mentioning ANYTHING about the PS2 and it's GAMES. It's obvious the PS2 has won this war. Microsoft isn't even denying that. His point is online gameplay. PS2's is $hitty at best. GC is nonexistant except for PSO. The only one with real push behind it is Microsoft's Live! It's free for the first year, with fees yet to be decided monthly. Compare anything free to anything that you have to pay for - what's better? The thing you have to pay for. People are willing to pay a "premium" (of like $10 a month when MS does charge for Live!
rolleye.gif
) for better things. You can say what you want about PC gaming - we're talking about console gaming here, simply put.

the topic is reasons *not* to buy an xbox and the implication he has an interest in ps2.

If you're looking for another good 4 player game, try Timesplitters 2. Considering it's made by many of the same people who made Goldeneye for N64 (One of the best console shooters ever, IMHO), not to mention how good the first one was (multiplayer), its a good bet.

Alright I just reread the original topic - didn't know he had an interest in the PS2. But his last few posts in response to yours shows almost no interest in the PS2. (I guess a bias towards the XBox) His thread title also says "Any reason *not* to buy an XBox?" And:

Soooo...outside of comments like "Microsoft sucks, or Xbox sucks, or Sony or Nintendo roXor's your boXors", is there any reason *not* to purchase it? Is the Xbox future undecided? Will Microsoft release the Xbox2 shortly and drop all support for the first one? Is there a major lack of games for the Xbox?

You stated you had a XBox - I'm sure he'll appreciate and actually take into account your comments (ie, the games didn't appeal to me or whatever) rather than stuff you said like:

you only need to look at the respective shelf space in any given store (xbox vs. PS2) to make your decision.

That's not a good reason not to buy an XBox

I'd highly recommend renting TS2 first. I bought it not too long ago and I was not impressed with it whatsoever. (In fact 2 days later I exchanged it at the Gamestop "Rent" works at because I hated it) And I've played the hell out of Goldeneye as much as any other N64 owner has

it is the best reason to buy a playstation 2.
more AAA titles, more exclusives, more support.much larger installed base.
the ps2 can hold its own graphically, there is a back catalog of great $20 dollar games, backward compatibility etc.

Really? Well, from the reviews, it did seem like the single player mode wasn't all that great...but have you played it with like 3-4 people?

Why settle for $20 games of average quality when you could get a GameCube and get the really good games (albeit for more than double the price).

The only reason that I would get a PS2 would be gran turismo.

Hmmmmm, I shouldn't have said...... that....... must resist....... urge........

Can't we all....just get along? 😛

Found locally owned game shop that does an Xbox bundle - New Xbox + JSR + Sega GT2002 + controller + extra controller + any used game for $250. They had a couple used copies of splinter cell laying on the shelf. Not *too* bad of a deal eh?

Still undecided. Hell...don't even know if I want to buy a console yet 😛. Guess the way I look at it is it's two smaller PC upgrades, or one big one.

The man starts a thread concerning one of the most flammable topics on AT...and then has the audacity to quote Rodney King!

That's not bad. For racing fans, Best Buy is offering a new Sega bundle with a new Adrenaline steering wheel for $199.99 this week.

This was a HUGE factor in my decision to buy a next-gen console after selling my Dreamcast (which TOTALLY kicked ass, BTW).
