btw, i snapped my pressure plate 2 weeks ago :p :D
The "correct" way to do it would be to get an automatic like a TorqueFlite. :p If you're going to stick with a manual transmission, then the best thing to do would be to shift without the clutch. It's not that hard.

You'd smoke your tires in first, possibly second (depending on the engine)...and *maybe* third (again..depending on the engine). Dumping the clutch off the line won't get you a great start...maybe it'll look fancy (smoke and screeching), but you won't be moving very fast.

Personally i would drive an automatic. I hate driving as it is, and i couldn't imagine driving a stick in heavy traffic day in and day out. I never race, so no need to pretend i'm a racer. And i'm not such a loser in life that i need to feel that knowing how to drive a stick is a big accomplishment.

someone told me the triple plate clutch would help me. i dont see how, though.

for your info, im not a true gearhead. i bought a junker old POS, ripped off all the panels, lightened, changed the engine, changed everything else, and began welding.

after all the panel tiedowns, and some welding, it should be back up to good again. then pressure plate i broke was in a different car :p... looks like i got some work ahead of me.

lol..you seem somewhat defensive, even though nobody said anything about your driving ability.. ;)

Big accomplishment? Not really (I taught someone in about 2 minutes..but she did catch on quick). Useful? Heck yes.

I enjoy driving..after driving my car, an auto transmission seems..wrong. It's fine for other people, but I really don't like it. Once you're used to driving a stick, you don't have to think about shifting/etc..so traffic is no big deal.

Feelings have nothing to do with it though for many of us ;)

I own 3 vehicles.. 2 of which are auto's and I have reason to other then feelings and opinions. The Z71 I have is an auto due to an Auto's strength over a manual, the tow rating just from the factory alone is over 2000lbs more then it's manual counterpart. So if you base it on personal "feelings" then you get stuck with a weaker tranny and a 1 TON less tow rating :(

I wish my commuter was the manual just because of the better power and milage in little 4 bangers you get from a manual.

But the manual is my other truck It's just my weekend campermobile, no towing, minor 4x4'n. Does great for those tasks. This one could be either auto or manual really. If insurance totals my commuter out due to the damage it got in the blizzard I hope the next deal I find will be a manual civic or something. (I like having a beater commuter in this town)

It's so cool when people stay on topic. Personally I'm not such a loser that I don't know how to drive a standard :p
