Besides, trades are not submitted to the league until both teams agree in principle. How would a league offical even know who approached who?

Well I don't know any more than you with regard to the official that sad that. However, if the Yanks did the approaching, I can understand why Torre would deny it after that outburst of how he'd be unhappy and make life for others hell if he's traded. I'm guessing Sheff wouldn't be pleased to see the Yanks were thinking of trading him.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I hate Sheffield more than anyone else in baseball. He's a selfish bitch. He intentionally and admittedly didn't try when he was with Milwaukee. He bitched up a storm with Dodgers management when Arod got his fat contract, and wanted to renegotiate even though his contract wasn't up for a couple seasons. Plus I don't have much doubt that he's a juice head.

How about the latest Sheffield rumor of him going back to the Marlins for Juan Encarnacion and AJ Burnett. Gary comes across as a selffish, arrogant, concieted ass but at least he says whats on his mind (as much as I cannot stand his attitude). Sheffield also received a 2 day suspension for his helmet throwing act during the weekend series with the Mets.

Sheffield for Encarnacion and Burnett???
