YAB(icycle)T: is a 2002 Giant OCR-3 a good bike?

this will be my first road bike. Will be used for recreation and possibly commuting when the weather gets better

what do you guys think?

i've heard good thing about that line of road bikes... the better question is does it fit you. that's the most important thing in buying a bike

Take it for a test ride and see if you feel comfortable on it. There are minor things you can do to make a bike more comfortable but if the frame is too big or too small you're hosed. Also, some bikes fit certain types of riders better than others.

I have a friend who used a Giant TCR just for training rides and he liked it. I think he still has it in fact but he really only rides his race bike. He has a Cannondale Six13 he's trying to sell along with the Giant and possibly a Serotta he put about 500 miles on last summer...although I'm not sure if he still has the Serotta.

def. try it first. My buddy bought the OCR-1, I think the difference is the components. I personally hate Sora, don't like the thumb shift. I ride a TCR frame, geometry is a little different and I love it.

If that's too small, I have one of these for sale for about the same price. The one shown however has a ultegra rear derailluer where the one I have has Dura Ace.
This is a NEW bike as well. I think it's a 56 or 57cm I'll check size if anyone is interested 😉

Compact frame, medium to high grade aluminum frame. Usually Shimano Tiagra componentry. Not a bad starter bike. It should only cost about 399-500. Best bet is to try it out and see.

I can probably get you a new frame. Unfortunately, usually when they sell frame sets by themselves they are higher end frames. What are you looking to send?

KHS just came out with their lowest price road bike ever the 220. It retails for under $500.

yea, i've been looking around. Don't really wanna spend too much just to have her say it's not for her. I already have a 9 speed 105 groupo. wheels and everythign else. just need a frame. the cheapest I found on ebay was about $160 shipped for a new Al frame(no fork).

My brother has an Interloc Scandium frame he needs to get rid of. It's a 57cm though. I guess it would be too big for your gf. He wants $100+shipping. Has some paint damage around the seatpost clamp from sweat. I believe it has a carbon fork, seatstay and chainstay, front triangle is Al.
