Yaay! Summer's here...bring on the smog!!

Should I go out for a bike ride today.....or just stay inside and smoke a pack of Lucky Strikes?

The problem is that most metro Atlantans feel trapped in their solo-driving schedules. Public transportation is viewed as inconvenient, and people often live far from where they work.

Linda Jo Ayers, for example, said she'd ride a bus for her 11-mile commute between her residence in Smyrna and office in Midtown, but said it would take too long.

"By the time I get [to a bus stop], heck, I could have already made it to work," said Ayers, an executive assistant for a data systems company.

Cry me a fscking river. You may get to work faster, but your kids are going to have black lung by the time they're 15. :|

Linda Jo can bite me. I live 8 miles from my office and drive maybe 4-5 times per month....tops. As an added bonus I actually get to work faster on my bike as I'm not subject to getting stuck in gridlock.

i'm surprised nyc doesn't have as bad air as atl but i guess we have less humidity which i'm sure is a factor.

i probably live less than 5 miles from work, you can probably see my apartment building from across the hudson river from downtown nyc, but mass transit is still the fastest way. either a ferry across the river or a bus ride through the holland tunnel.

Whatever you do, don't move to GA. It's 90 almost every day from July to the middle of September.

Probably true, but I'm still gonna bitch about it. 😛

The really galling thing is that Atlanta didn't have smog when I moved here 13 years ago. It's only been the last 5-ish years that it's been an issue....largely due to unmanaged growth and inactivity on the part of the state/city with regard to keeping it in check.
