Don't you think that's it's crap that teachers have to teach students about people solely because of their race, not their accomplishments?
I agree. The problem is I bet 50% of black people don't even do anything to "celebrate" black history month.
The middle east is in ASIA. Middle east is a politically incorrect term as well. Its middle east of where? If you were located in India would be the middle west? The correct term for the middle east is Southwest Asia.

The reason behind all the hate is because the Black Americans keep advocating it and thus are ticking people off. A very good example is the Puerto Rican Day parade and the Hispanic Day parade in NYC. Sure, take pride, but there's really no need to get all rowdy about it. Plus, us New Yorkers don't really need reminders 24/7 that the Latino/Afro-American/etc contributed so much to society.
People that revel in these "special occsassions" probably only celebrate Thanksgiving once a year. Give thanks every day you fkn crab. Likewise, show your pride through your work and effort, not by how long your <ETHNICITY><DURATION OF TIME>.

Why have a month just for Black History? Why not treat it like every other part of history? I remember reading about many African Americans during history when I was in High School, and not during BHM. Martin Luther King was huge part of history, like George Washington, and we were taught about them both. It's no more important, or less important, than any other part of history. Why have a month dedicated to it?
I said this before in the other thread. If it's a worthwhile accomplishment or contribution to the topic at hand, regardless of race they will be mentioned. There's no reason to specifically focus on a white man, black man, chinense man, or any other man just becase they invented the nutcracker and it happens to be "Insert Race Here" Month. Unless referring to civil right or cultural movements, most teachers never refer to a person's race, which is how it should be.
In NYS, HSs only spend 2 years covering the history of the WORLD. Yes, the entire history of the world in 2 years, and staying as far away from US History as possible. Stuff gets left out, and everyone gets the shaft. But I do remember learning about everything from Western Europe, Eastern Europe, to Southwest Asia, to Central America, to Austrailia. If teachers and text book makers actually implmented in that way I agree there would not be a need for a entire month. But as long as we have states like AL,GA,TN,AZ,ID,SD a entire month will be nessesary.

Uh-huh, and we Irish had to fight for your bloody country when we emigrated... do we get Irish History Month?? What about the Chinese that were forced to work on railroads.. do they get Chinese History Month? (I'm actually serious... is there a Chinese history month?).
I think Black history month was/is a good idea, but, and I know I might stereotype, it just seems like black youth doesn't care until someone not black says something about it.
To add onto this, in my HS we had a "Where in the World" class that was exclusively used to broaden a student's exposure to cultures around the world. This included the Middle East, ranging from the rulers of old to the current Middle East situations.
