YAA/V (audio video)T: Moments of audio drop with HD

I am getting very frequent loss of audio on pretty much all of my HD channels. This happens probably once ever few minutes and the audio completely mutes for 1-3 seconds. There's no issue with video from what I can tell. This happens when viewing live TV and obviously, when watching something I recorded on a HD channel.

This does not happen on any non-HD channels, nor does it happen when watching a DVD...just with HD channels. I've had the local cable company come out for a signal test and they said mine is plenty strong enough. And I've also swapped out DVR/HD boxes a couple times to no avail. My TV is connected to the DVR box via HDMI (back of DVR) to DVI (back of TV) and the HD is set to 1080.

Any ideas? And yes, I posted a similar message on the avs forums but hoping to get a quick resolution here at AT.
 
I get the same problem on mine and have (unfortunately) learned to live with it. It has to do with the box and/or your provider, but I'm not sure.

I know I'm not helping, but just realize... you're not alone! :heart:
 
just wondering, but what kind of A/V cables are you using to connect from your box to your tv?

most HDTVs have an outlet for HDMI cables and if your box has an HDMI outlet, pick up one of those. this used to happen w/ my box and after i got the cable (it transfers both Audio and Visual) it fixed the problem

Please note my initial post where I mentioned the connections I'm using. My HDTV has DVI but not HDMI. But my DVR/HD box has HDMI. So I purchased a HDMI to DVI cable, which is what I'm currently using and still having these problems.
 
It may just be the signal strength, I've had the same issue in the past with different providers, but now I have good signal strength and it never happens.

Yeah, I've come to accept it to a degree but it's highly annoying. And personally, I don't feel a consumer should just "live with" something if they're paying for a faulty service. And my local provider has taken on an "oh well..." stance with it.

Not my signal (from what I was told). I've had them out to check that. When they came, he said the signal was fine to begin with but even replaced some fittings (outside) to improve it to the max.
