Or do you actually manage to save $ every payday. And no buying computer stuff is not saving money :D Me I manage to save once in a while. Think I have $105 in savings :disgust: and almost 44!

I typically save a lot, then something bad happens and I have to spend it all.

I try to save. Then I find some toy I want and there it goes. I have been trying hard lately to save, but I don't make a whole lot so it's tough. I'm about a paycheck and a half ahead right now.

The only time I ever save money is to make a large purchase. Other than that, it all gets spent on bills and useless junk (see sig).

Just wait until you have more expenses...

Now that I have a job that pays decently, I'm trying desperately to get $3000 into my IRA by April 15th... so yes and no.

I make enough to where I am able to save ~$1000/month on top of bills. However, I just started working in Jan, so I don't have that much saved up yet to where I'm comfortable. Something always happens... For me, the lease is up on my current car in May, and I will be shelling out some cash to get another car.

$25k in retirement (401k, Roth IRA), $6000 in savings. That's not too too bad, I guess. I'm 24. I stopped contributing as much to my retirement over the past year because with a wedding/home purchase coming up, it seemed to make more sense to have more liquid money at this point in time. Once the wedding is over, I'll kick the 401k back up to 15% and then put the balance of the surplus in Roth IRA and the remainder in savings.

Wife and I sock away about 30% of our monthly income into retirement after our employer match each month. We've probably got close to $30k built up between the two of us in our 401k's and IRA's.

We've got enough in savings to probably go 8 months at this point without having a dime of income for the month.

I'm 26, she's 23, we've got close to 20k in equity in our home and she hasn't even finished her degree yet. In two years our household income will nearly double.

I'm happy with where we are sitting.

College student, I barely make it. Although I'm just around the point where I can start saving about a couple hundred each month.

I don't live payday to payday but I don't have much to save either. I have 3% taken out of my check each week for 401(k) and I'm also trying to save for a honeymoon & home purchase next year. I've really had to cinch the financial belt pretty tight.

Hopefully I'll land a somewhat decent job when I graduate next year.

27, 13k in savings.

I stick 7% into a 401k w/ company match.

I might make it 10% after tax time.
