Regarding the Skittles question, I liked this response someone posted on Facebook:

"If I gave you a bowl of skittles and three of them were poison would you still eat them?"

"Are the other skittles human lives?"

"What?"

"Like. Is there a good chance. A really good chance. I would be saving someone from a war zone and probably their life if I ate a skittle?"

"Well sure. But the point-"

"I would eat the skittles."

"Ok-well the point is-"

"I would GORGE myself on skittles. I would eat every single fucking skittle I could find. I would STUFF myself with skittles. And when I found the poison skittle and died I would make sure to leave behind a legacy of children and of friends who also ate skittle after skittle until there were no skittles to be eaten. And each person who found the poison skittle we would weep for. We would weep for their loss, for their sacrifice, and for the fact that they did not let themselves succumb to fear but made the world a better place by eating skittles.

Because your REAL question...the one you hid behind a shitty little inaccurate, insensitive, dehumanizing racist little candy metaphor is, IS MY LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MEN, WOMEN, AND TERRIFIED CHILDREN...

... and what kind of monster would think the answer to that question... is yes?"

Regarding the copyright infringement... I'm not surprised that whatever hack volunteer the Trump campaign got to make the image doesn't realize that everything you can find through Google image search is not automatically public domain.

IMHO I would put a tad more responsibility on Assad. But that's just me

And no responsibility to the Neocons who created / armed his opposition?
The United States used Syrian "rebels" to take out Assad. It worked until Russia stepped in to stop us.
Point being, we did that. Recognize whose leadership that was.

Most likely not, given that the analogy in the tweet referenced a minority of refugees, but good job playing to imbecilic sympathies.

Seeing he is a refugee, yes he would be one of the skittles. I hope your response was intellectual dishonesty as the other options are less flattering.

Edit: I'll actually help you with the analagy.
"If you had a bowl of "refugees" and you were told just three would kill you, would you take a handful [of refugees]?"

What I hate is that the skittles comparison gives millions of people a way out of caring about the war, feeling the need to help, or even to at least be shocked by it or even hope something can be done. Millions of people basically thinking "Oh, a couple refugees might be bad guys? OK, keep 'em out. Well now that I have that answered, where's the remote control for my TV?". Feels like we are losing our compassion for our fellow humans.

Feels like we are losing our compassion for our fellow humans.

Of course this is a very profound, nevertheless true statement. Compassion and racism/intolerance etc. are not exactly compatible.
But this doesn't just include the compassion for, say refugees, immigrants etc...but in our case also means a sentiment by Trump voters who (imho) VERY WELL know that he is indeed a scammer, liar etc. (everyone can look up Trump's history or check the validity of the things he says), ...but this AS WELL is conveniently brushed away, because values such as integrity, honesty or simply being "human" are not worth anything any more.

So with things like compassion go other traits as well, traits which ONCE were considered good, if not considered proud qualities which made one "American". A once friendly nation that welcomed the poor and disadvantaged the most has literally become a nation of assholes, at least a large portion of it, with all this implies.

And I really, really don't want the assholes taking over.

If you dehumanize the "others" it makes it easier not to care, and to think nothing of their death.

That's why ole Donnie equated the refugees to candy and the same time picking Skittles for a dog whistle to their peeps. Besides show empathy for any of those people in the Trump world would be too PC

When the "others" dehumanize themselves, it's hilariously easy not to care, unless you're an idiot (or a liberal).

Sorry, but would you really be open to accepting literally every last person from a country with human rights issues? Like, if we could bring say 50 million North Africans and Middle-Easterners and sub-Saharan Africans here as quickly as possible, eliminating all restrictions against immigration, you'd be ok with that? There is a grey area between Sweden and Japan when it comes to immigration policy.

Resorting to a straw man I see.
