2001 Ford F150 CrewCab Lariat, MP3 cd player, power seats, windows, ac, etc. "Good" condion. 120,000 miles

KBB gives me about $10k, does this seem right?

I started work etc, and I HAVE to have better gas mileage. I'm pushing $12 a day in gas in this thing, not including personal fun.

Keep in mind that you're not the only person who's looking to get better gas mileage...meaning it'll be a hard sell.

118,000 of those were highway. very VERY little city driving. Never driven rough. Just have to get a smaller car.

Considering it's mileage, I'm actually quite impressed with it, It's been given at least two thorough run-downs in the last 9 months.

BTW: if I can pull ~10 for it, can you recommend a higher gas mileage car? I'd kinda prefer something sporty, and I don't need great gas mileage. Just can't handle the 16-18 freeway I'm getting. Do the LT1's actaully get anywhere near the rated 26mpg?

Ford Focus. The old model. '03 or earlier, IIRC. Whatever you sell your truck for, you can get a Focus for that amount or less. They're fun little cars to drive (I have an '02 Sedan), and get great mileage (the sedan with the SPI engine is rated for 26mpg, I get 20mpg with 4 pax and a heavy trunk, 30 with driver alone), and are pretty friggin' reliable.

From what I remember, the wagon gets slightly better mileage than the sedan (same weight, better aerodynamics), and the 3door gets slightly better than that (lighter, smaller, and the aerodynamic profile of the wagon). The ZX (zetec) series will be more common, but I'd personally avoid them - you get a few extra horsepower (this car's fun factor isn't about power, it's about manueverability) in exchange for worse fuel efficiency. The SE's and other SPI-engined models are what you should be concentrating on. Problem is that both engines have the same displacement, so you have to look at the badging on the car itself, since 99% of the time, you only get a displacement in ads or dealership computers.

And yes, you should be able to offload your truck for just about the KBB value.

i hate my low gas mileage too in my ford explorer xlt, 98 🙁

of course when i bought it i lived 5 minutes from my job so it wasn't an issue lol

you are going to have a VERY hard time finding someone to buy it. especially with 120k miles.
