The good news is that the MSI 6800GT appears to use MSI's custom HSF, which is supposed to be very quiet. This was a friggin' great deal--probably better than the $330 X800P at Dell.

Just got in on the deal . . . $403 shipped. Not as good as the PNY Ultra deal CompUSA finally officially screwed me on today (the 30% deal), but for whatever it's worth I've got more faith that buy.com will actually come through. I'm tired of waiting. Time to wait.

Goodluck getting your stuff guys, I was tired of waiting.

Meanwhile, I called GreatFun, and canceled my "membership" there. I havn't even gotten the savings "package" they were offering to me yet.

Oh well...
 
I'm starting to think I'd rather put this money towards a laptop, especially since I only play SWG which is more ram/processor/lag limited than graphics limited.
 
Yah I guess now that I'm on the waiting list, I'm trying to figure out if it is really worth $50. There are places you can get a GT in stock for $400, so the real difference here is the game bundle, the only one of which really worth it is D3. If I ordered an in-stock GT now, I could play Far Cry, & Madden '04 the way they should be played, maybe get D3 later.

Decisions, decisions.
 
Just out of curiosity, is there any rampant speculation at all as to when buy.com might be getting more GTs?

no speculation... I canceled last night, gonna put the moeny elsewhere. We'll see these price breaks again before christmas, and I don't have time to play Doom 3 anyway :-(
 
Well I just put in an order at CompUSA for their bundle, which for a while was not in stock but they are taking online orders again as of this morning. It's pretty similar, although a few dollars more and with only D3 not the other games.

Basically, whoever ships first, wins.

Unless they ship on the same day, then I'm screwed.

Or unless they take forever, then I'll cancel both.
 
I got screwed uniquely. I figured it would take CompUSA forever to ship so I went to BEst Buy and got the only gt shipped to my town. I figured tomorrow I would cancel both buy.com and compusa.

Then, I came home, installed the GT, and checked my e-mail, and I'll be buggerred but CompUSA shipped, same day, my GT + Doom 3. I read the e-mail with the BFG GT already installed. But I can't afford 2, hell I can barely afford one, so I uninstalled the BFG and will take it back to BB tomorrow.

I'll crapper around with my GF3 for another 4 or 5 days I reckon before the CompUSA order gets here early next week.
 
Well it's Friday. I ordered mine back on August 3rd, and it's now August 20th. I'm starting to get a little irritated. Has anyone's order shipped? Has anyone requested info from Buy.com recently? Any activity at all??

well broke down and bought a BFG 6800GT at a local bestbuy(its a thing of beauty! 😀 ), paid MSRP, but had some giftcards, so only paid $348. ofcourse, came home cancelled buy.com order. i still think this is a good deal. if i didnt have the GCs id still be waiting for this deal.

(incase you want to know, i checked bb online and it showed that Aurora,IL had it in stock. called and gave the guy there the SKU# thats mentioned in the video forum, and they had 2. asked him to hold it for me, but when i went to the store, the guy was at lunch and they didnt find it behind the counter/desk, but they had one out in the display! 😀 they might still have the other one. man cant wait to put together my system! )

Dude thats awesome! Anyone know when the doom3 bundles will be hitting retailers?
Did a bit more looking, aparently the EVGA version will begin shipping August 30th according to GameVE none of the others have any info on when they may be available

Anyone hear anything new?

I just emailed MSI directly asking them if they would happen to know when they are going to ship out to Buy.com. I probably won't hear back until at least Monday though...
 
Well, I got tired of waiting and jumped on the GS deal at Monarch. If it does actually turn out to be GS, then this is a great deal! 😎

A bit more pricy than the buy.com MSI deal, with crappier games, but the card is essentially an Ultra!

I'm not canceling my buy order just yet, however. Whoever ships first, wins!
 
Has anyone sent in their Great Fun rebate despite the non-shipment of their order?

If so, what did you use as a receipt - print out of order page? Have you gotten confirmation that it's valid?
