Apparently, mine is a Rev A01, mfg date of March 2005, so pretty recent. After reading through Dell's user guide, I plugged it in via the DVI cables.

I didn't notice any dead pixels, which is a plus. However, there seems to be some backlighting issues. The corners are several shades brighter when viewing a black screen, mainly concentrated in the lower left and upper right corner's. Also, apparently, the Auto-Adjust feature does not work with DVI(Digital) inputs, among other features of the OSD. The user's guide does not specifically list the auto-adjust feature as being unavailable in DVI, I had to figure that out for myself given that other options are labeled as unavailable in DVI. So I hooked it up via the D-Sub VGA Analog connector, now all the OSD features appear to work.

Definitely going to take some time getting used to a 20in LCD, it just seems strange after using a 17in for over 2 years.

The 1680x1050 Wide Screen res is very nice, although I haven't tested it in any games or DVDs yet. I plan on doing that shortly.

If the back lighting issue becomes more pressing, I will likely contact Dell for a replacement.

You don't need Auto Adjust with DVI....the point of DVI is to pass along a pure digital signal without need of alteration or adjustment  I didn't think anyone would willingly use VGA over DVI, given the choice :p

Sorry to hear you have backlighting issues though, my 2005FPW has been great.

I just got mine today as well. I've been playing CODUO and UT2004 great. I'm also fortunate that there's no dead pixels and no backlighting issues, but I still like the fact that you can exchange with Dell if you're unsatisfied. About to watch a DVD now - have fun!

Definitely am liking the desktop space afforded by Widescreen though.

The backlighting seems to be fairly minor, but I'll have to test it more extensively in the coming days.

I got my 2005fpw on Monday and I like it a lot! I was lucky, no dead pixels. However, I seem to have some pretty "harsh" backlighting in the lower left and lower middle edges of the screen. I downloaded that monitor.exe someone posted here awhile back and that's really the only time I notice it a lot (during the black screen or course). When it goes through the alternating black and white bars from top to bottom, I can't seem to see any backlighting... I'm wondering if I'm just "seeing" backlighting issues that aren't really there? Either way, I think I can live with it.

Mine comes in tommrrow....

/me looks at the clock wow 1:52 AM

Make that mine comes in today :p

The backlighting issue kind of cracks me up. Not saying its not a problem for some people but for many people the only issue is the issue that they make it. In games, in movies, in programs they never notice it. But using a calibration type tool they notice it and think its a problem. So technically its not noticeable unless you create a unrealistic situiation (Totally black screen? Come on when will I ever have a totally black screen?).

Well to be honest there might be some cases where it could be a issue, game loading and such but honestly it does not seem like ti would be a severe issue at all.

But like I said I will know today :)

I enjoy playing a lot of darker themed games, which have a lot of dark scenery, in which its very noticeable. :p

If the backlight bleeding bothers you, dell will take it back and replace it if you send it back within 21 days.

Actually, I have very minor backlight bleeding. However, I only can notice it when I turn off all the lights in my room (which I never do except to sleep) and run a game/movie that is very dark. Even then it doesn't really get in the way. Since I always use the computer in a well lighted environment (which you're supposed to do anyways), I don't notice it. I shouldn't need to exchange it.

Hey Guys,

Yep, I used monitor.exe. And like I said, I only really notice the backlighting when I use the monitor.exe program, so I dont' think I'll send it back.
