Well for one, a monitor it meant to sit on a desk. Can't exactlly have monitor that sticks about 2-3 feet off your desk. With TVs this is not much of a problem, there is usually plenty of space behind a TV in most setups.

TV screens are also typically much bigger than a computer screen.... As your screen gets bigger you must move the electron guns in the tube futher back from the screen, otherwise it will not be able to reach all areas of the screen.

Because they cost more money?
They're still CRTs/LCDs (same technology) so why the shorter period on TVs?
