I would guess due to the amount of meat needed. Beef jerky REALLY loses weight due to dehydration.
If you really want it for cheap go buy a dehydrator and make your own 🙂

Take 10 lbs of steak at $7/lb. Dehydrate. Get 1 lb of jerky at $70/lb.

i like beef jerky too, but not those sold in the US market. I ususally go to chinese market and get them. It taste so much better

BTW, I like this stuff. Me and my brother just bought 9 pounds! of this stuff with an average price of $17.22 a pound. It's the best stuff.

Jerky at Costco is like.. $10 for 2 8oz bags.. there's plenty of it too.

But the best hot jerky I ever had was a sportmans show.. habenero infused jerky of some type.. damn that was hot but oh so good.. I think it was like $15 for 3oz? It's been too long. 🙁
