xvid playback slightly choppy.

First off, I just upgraded my system to a:

C2D6700
MSI P6N Plat
2gb ram
evga geforce 8800gts 640mb

So far this is what I have installed. WinXP with all the secirity updates, nforce mobo drivers and the latest geforce 8800 series drivers.

Then I installed the latest Xvid codec version 1.1.2. Testing out a few xvid avi's and I notice the the playback was ever-so-slightly studdering. So then I uninstall xvid, and installed a previous version I had from 2004. Same isusse.
At first I thought that it might be a conflict between the xvid codec and the new wmp11. So I did a fresh install of XP without updating the media player to 11. Same problem.

Anyone else experience this, and have a solution?

thanks!

I just came across this tread

Its seems that some people solved a simlar problem by using some codec packs. I really dont want to install a whole codec pack to solve this problem tho.

The last post on the thead:
For flawless xvid decoding using Koepi's xvid codec:
Open up xvid decoder (which is located on the start menu).
Check "Deblocking (Y)" and "Compability Renderer".
Now you should be good to go, hope it works.

Cheers!
When I get home later tonight, I'm probably going to try this out first. If that doesnt work, I'll try some older geforce drivers to see to the problem lies there.

I had the same stuttering issue when I put together my new computer. I was using Media Player Classic as the media player though.

My brother suggested to get a newer ffdshow pack than what I was using, which ended up doing the trick. Might wanna try that.

Just as an update I checked "Deblocking (Y)" and "Compability Renderer" and my xvid files seem to be playing the way they should!

Nice, worked for me too. And on top of that, it fixed a problem I was having with Windows Media Encoder, where anytime I started to encode a divx file an error message would instantly pop up - works perfectly now. Thanks again for passing on the info...
