the difference is not that much and the ati x1800xt is still $600, where you can pick up a 7800gtx for ~$460.

yeah, ATI RADEON is good for battlefield. NVIDIA GEFORCE is better in doom3.

currently, i'm into battlefield mod DC final.

either way you are still talking a small percentage of difference in fps, and your eye will not be able to tell, but your wallet will 😉. basically anything over a constant 60+fps and you can't tell. to each their own though.

you need to get bf2, EA/Dice did a good job with it, especially if you like DC Final, which will i would recomend a new build to have at least a 7800gt or comparable along with 2GB of ram if you are going to play over 1280x960 with high settings.

whatever comes cheap to me, i would be getting that. 7800GT or X1800XL. 😀 i have my options open.

but you can pick up a 7800gtx for a little bit more than a x1800xl and have a better card than either the 7800gt or x1800xl.

Sticking an ATI card in a Dell XPS 600 is not a smart thing to do anyways, it's an SLI motherboard with an NF4 chipset. You're better off with an Nvidia. But that what you have listed is WAY overpriced, and YHPM.

i might get a discount from ATI, so favoring it. it's not confirmed yet though.
btw, if i do then are there any good ATI motherboards for AMD 3800+/4200+.

how's DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR ($160) compared to others like ASUS for AMD 3800+/4200+.

ati i think only makes 1 or 2 chipsets for amd and although they did good in reviews, i think newegg only has a dfi one for ~$200.

as far as the dfi board, they are good but kind of ram finicky. the epox i recommend earlier is nearly as good as an overclocker but definately more friendly. if i were to build a machine at this moment for myself and wanted to go with a pci-e card, i would go the epox (the dif has more ram voltage options, but you won't need them unless you are going to be extreme o/c, the epox will do good o/c very, just not the uber highend like the dfi)

830 = i don't know man. it seems kinda like a waste to me to spend that much on the performance...
video card = not bad...is it vanilla or gt or something? if it's vanilla, not really worth it
ram = awesome
hard drive = i think 250 would be better, especially at that price
optical drive = not even dvd-rw?
sound = no speakers??

bottom line....not really worth it

They are very good rig but do you need dual ati video card? I guess not.. and I heard there'll be 7800gtx 512mb will beat x1800xt 512mb.

no, i would go for single X1800 XL 256MB or X1800 XT 256MB.
and yes. 7800gtx 512mb would beat the x1800xt 512mb. but i would go for ATI.

anyone, any suggestions about the following:

the DFI LANParty UT RDX200 [http://anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2572&p=3] specs state that the compatible speeds are DDR200, 240, 266, 280, 300, 333, 360, 400 (433, 466, 500 with Rev. E AMD) on newegg. the RAM that i plan to buy is Crucial Ballistix 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 500 (PC 4000) Unbuffered System Memory Model BL12864L503. both would be compatible, right?? just confirming. would there be any issues later on??

also, the m/b is DFI LANParty UT RDX200 ATI's Crossfire AMD for the Bleeding Edge. and i just plan for one single ATI Radeon X1800 XL or XT 256MB. here again, i hope there would not be any issues.

i would really appreciate the help.

regarding the DFI NF4 mobo, here are a few. please help me out here.
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR (163.00/-)
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-D (167.00/-)
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR (189/-) (compatible with Sempron too??)
DFI LanParty UT RDX200 (200/-)

what's the difference between the first 3?? would the first 3 be compatible with the AMD X2 series?? is it that they are compatible with the Sempron too??

the other mobo that i have seen is the
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe: NVIDIA Dual x16 for the Athlon 64 (250/-)

any comments anyone on the doubts?? thanks.
