Hi,
No DVD drive shown in MY COMPUTER....read several threads on this none have helped.

Anyone got a sure fix for bringing back the DVD icon in my computer?

DVD door does open manually. Unable to play any DVD's as yet.

It seems to be hardware issue.

Since you did not provided any technical info even guessing is Not an option.

I agree, most likely hardware problem. Check all cable connections first. Try different DVD drive next.
Agreed. You need to be sure your motherboard detects it first (it should show up during POST; if all else fails try to boot from it) before you even worry about what Windows is doing.

Yes, make sure it shows up in the BIOS first. If it does, then probably windows is to blame. Other burn programs can sometimes booger up the drive in windows. I don't remember if this runs off XP but give it a whirl.

Hi All,

Many thanks for the replies, Im honored to get advisories from such elite Anand members.

It was a hardware issue....just now opened up the case and one of the SATA leads into the DVD drive was not quite home.

This is a great website.

All the best,

Berne🙂
