Hi,
I been trying to adjust the spacing and size of Icons on the desktop via Appearance Themes Display Appearance Advanced ect... but I can only get down to 16 on spacing. How do I get and what is, the lowest gap possible for both horizontal and vertical icons?

Among other things, the screen resolution dictates the icon size. You can also Right click on the Desktop, Properties, Appearance, Advanced, there are setting in the Drop Down for Icon Spacing both Vertical and Horizontal. You can also change Icon Sizes. You will need to play with it to get it as you want. I suggest, you copy the settings down first, so you can get back to current easily in case you mix it up.
