XP3000+ 333FSB vs XP3000+ 400FSB

Dumb question but I've been out of the hardware scene for too long.

I see both of these procs at newegg for the same price:

Which one would be better? Also is it worth paying more for this proc?

If you aren't overclocking then the 3000+ 400 FSB is good. If you are overclocking then you should get a mobile 2400+ (or 2500+, 2600+).
The DFI boards are great for overclocking but I've heard about many issues that make them not so great for everyday use. These issues may only be when they are pushed to their limit. If you want that board just choose between those two for the features you want.
But I'd get an Abit NF7-S or Asus A7N8X. I think they are more stable.
For the kind of money you are spending I would get the A64 2800+ instead. It's only $40. more and is in a whole other league of performance.

Well I'm not really planning on overclocking to tell you the truth. I'm not too interested in it. If I'm not overclocking, you'd recommend the Asus A7N8X or NF7-S? If I do go with the A64, which motherboard would you recommend? Are the A64's picky about what type of memory? I was looking at this particular stick:

EDIT: Tell you the truth, I don't think I'll be able to go with the A64. My wife's barely allowing me to get the XP3000+ Which motherboard would you guys recommend for this proc? OC is not my highest priority. I'd much rather have more features.

Hmmm maybe ill switch to the NF7 v.2 Only thing that sucks is the location of the ATX power connection on the motherboard. What a crappy place!

What's the difference between the Nforce2 SPP and the nforce 2 ultra chipset?

I see the NF7 has the SPP chipset.

Asus caters for a more general market.
I personally think that the ABIT is a better overclocker then the A7N8X-Deluxe

$139.00 + free shipping I figure it's not too bad of a deal considering I'm buying a UV sensitive sleeving kit and uv sensitive rounded cables.

Yeah that's what I figured. In my case, I'm not going to be overclocking though.

I second the notion of the LANPARTY DFI Ultra II....I just built a cpu for my friend using this board, and it smokes! Grab the mobile 2500 or 2600 and you are rockin!! Plus it looks just killer...IMHO

abit boards have been the best choice for me lately
the DFI boards are cool too

might as well go with 400fsb if your not overclocking
but if you went with 333fsb you would probably get a better overclock on a locked cpu
