xp2000+ OC?

Any tips would be helpful, is it possible to run it at 166fsb?
I have a Soltek SL-75FRN2-L and Samsung pc2700 memory.

I had my xp 2000+ at 170 FSB. Didn't want to go higher becuase the board lacked an AGP/PCI lock. Also used wire in socket to set the multi higher

I've never heard of that board, so that pretty much means it isn't an nForce2 board, and you won't be able to lock the pci or agp buses. Look in your motherboard manual, or look it up on Soltek's website, and if Soltek says it will "handle" a 333mhz fsb processor, then you're all set, because that means it has dividers that will return the pci bus to 33mhz and the agp bus to 66mhz. If it doesn't, you can still overclock it slightly, but you won't get very far.

The possibility is up to the motherboard. I can almost gaurantee that the CPU itself will run at 166 FSB, even if the Vcore has to be raised a bit. Looking it up, I see that the motherboard does indeed support 333MHz bus speeds, and is equipped with a basic NF2 chipset. Odds are in your favor.

Hah, I should have looked it up myself, but I assumed if he really wanted to overclock, he wouldn't mind looking it up himself. Anyway, Hell, just make sure the pci bus is locked at 33, and the agp bus is locked at 66mhz, and raise your fsb to 166, and you now own a slightly overclocked XP2000. Wait, it's more than likely not going to hit even 166, unless it's a Thoroughbred B. The Palomino's don't OC very well, and neither do the Thoroughbred A's. If you're lucky, you have a T-bred B.
