i've heard the Xp 1800's that are selling are T-Bred B's. i wish i woulda go that instead. there probably would have been a better chance at getting a 1800 Tbred B than a 1700 Tbred B. it would only cost $10 more.

From my understanding, these Tbred chips aren't multiplier unlocked, except on the newer Via KT400 and Nvidia Nforce2 chip set mainboards. Maybe some older mainboards will be able to unlock the multiplier, but I don't think so.

The chips are unlocked by default. Old mobos should be able to see it. If there'a jumper to set between Palomino CPUs and normal Athlon/Duron Cpus, set the jumper to see the CPu as a Duron/Athlon. :)

forgive my newbieness.....

I just ordered a NForce 2 mobo (Asus A7N8X). So I don't have to do that XP unlocking by connecting the bridges to OC my chip? (ordered a TBred B 2100 XP)

It seems I can't reset my Asus A7V133c ( Raid ) to see this chip !!!

Reset everything in bios , before pulling out my 1 gigger, ( 1.3 @ 1.7 volts ).
cleared cmos
Set it to 1.5 volt @ 10x by 133 ( seemed safe to me )

Put in the new chip.
and all I can get is 9.5x by 133 @ 1.7 volt , if I re-boot.
my First boot I can set it @ 1.5, ( But it comes up safe @ 9.5x @ 100 fsb ) but everytime after that, all it want's to do is go to 1.7.
Danged./ this chip is still locked......
???????
Need Help, if you can

i ordered the retail verison for $61. then I get a heatsink and 3 year warranty. Seemed like a better deal than a $50 oem processor and then buying another year of warranty for $5.

Of course, who has a processor for more than 3 years! ;-)

The point is that you don't know what kind of stepping you are getting with the retail.

I got another xp1700+ today, A version downgraded from XP2400+

cc510, you have a winner. tbred-B downgraded from 2600. what else would you want ! Only -ve part, it's 1.6V not 1.5V everything else looks great.

Well, mine turned out to only be a TBred-A :brokenheart:.

On the plus side, it's also a remarked 2400+ running at a cool 1.5v. Currently I'm running it at 2000+ (1.67Ghz) at the default voltage. I'll play around with it more tomorrow after the kids are at school :).

when they are rebadged, does that mean that they didnt satisfy certain performace tests and cant reach their expected speeds at the voltages they should? Or are they perfectly normal 2600+'s or whatever you get?

Well, going by the website that tells you the specs, mine is a rebaedged 2600+, but if I try to do more than 2000+ speed, the machine will reboot or just not boot at all.

Well, going by the website that tells you the specs, mine is a rebaedged 2600+, but if I try to do more than 2000+ speed, the machine will reboot or just not boot at all.

Mine is a B version supposedly a remarked 2600+. It won't run over 2400+ speed, or 2GHz. Now I am not complaining that much, because a 1700+ at 2400+ speed is pretty good for $51, but there is no way in hell this chip will run at 2600+ speed. Maybe if I up the voltage higher than 1.8, but it won't run at this voltage, so it would have to be higher. Right now it is rock-stable at 2400+ speed with 1.725 core voltage. So I think the 26 meaning it is remarked 2600+ might be more speculation than actual fact. Everyone assumes these numbers to be true, but I think they are the opinion of some people and now all of a sudden everyone thinks it is fact.
