I have 2 computers and I'm gonna give one away to my nephew's son. Which combo would be faster?

Epox 8K5A2+
ECS K7S5A PRO

1600+ XP that's been overclocked by setting the fsb to 166 so it ran at about 1.74GHz or like a 2100+.
OR
a new 2000+ 'A' that I have no idea how it will overclock.

I don't plan to overclock the ECS at all, so I can run that with the 2000+ or run the epox at 2100+ and a fsb of 333. Hmm.. duhh.

So the choice would seem, the fastest would start with the epox and then decide which cpu would create a faster system.

You should definitely keep the 8K5A2 (GREAT board, I have one!) and the 2000. Even though it's an "A", it'll OC higher than the Palamino and run much cooler!

Keep the Epox and the 2000+. Even if it doesn't overclock at all it is only 60 mhz or so you lose and your processor would be at its stock speed. You gain a much cooler system and most likely the 2000+ will OC, probably better than the Palomino.

The ECS board is one I got at Fry's Anniversary sale last Friday. I must admit, I was worried that I'd have all kinds of headaches with it and with dealing with Fry's. As it turns out, I was lucky enough to get a good board and cpu for $70 + tax. I'm not gonna take the Epox cause the 1600+ needs it to oc to 2100+ / 166 fsb. I've got the ecs and 2000 together and it's good and I don't think I want to mess with it anymore.

For those who got that $5 case after MIR, what I did to improve cooling was take a Dremel w/ a cut-off bit #426 and cut out and removed the stamped finger guard for the back panel fan. Now here's an observation, how many of you have noticed and wondered why case makers even bother to provide case fan mountings when they often just punch these little holes in the sheet metal for the air to escape. I mean, what's the point? The ratio of metal to hole is much more than 50%. I say, just leave it open or if you're worried about litigation pop for the cost of a fan and a cheap wire fan grill.
In fact, I'm gonna create a poll and ask how many pc enthusiasts would like that. Just thinking of getting stiffed on those rebates has me in a cosumer advocate mood. :D
