Xp wont start

I popped in an ubuntu cd and rebooted it failed .now. It doesn't even try to load windows.doesn't work.I get to the part where it says. F12 or f2. and itl locks up what do I do?
 
Popped out the battery for a few minutes and then started it up. It's all good, for now. Shall I dare attempt to install Ubuntu again?
