Sorry about the junior member thing - I haven't posted in a while and lost my old handle! I've installed XP Pro on a number of computers now with now problem except for one minor one on the last. Windows won't shut down the computer automatically - you get the old-fashioned "It's safe to shut down your computer now" message at the end. It shut down fine with windows 98SE. I've tried everything I can thing of. This is my oldest system: a K6III+ on an ASUS P5a (ali alladin). Obviously not my gaming machine!

Any sugestions??

Thanks!

Control Panel -> Power Options -> APM Tab -> Enable Advanced Power Management Support -> Apply. Works every time. :)

I had the same problem with my Soyo board, but it's a Via chipset. Try downloading and installing the alladin drivers again and it should be ok. For the Via the 4135 4 in 1 setup worked for me.
