XP won't recognize my USB 2.0 on MSI KT3 Ultra..Why?

I have an MSI KT3 Ultra with USB 2.0 on board. I just did a clean install of XP and added SP1. However, in my device manager, all my USB stuff is listed as just USB root hub. There is nothing that says USB 2.0. There are no USB 2.0 drivers on the motherboard CD either. How do I get XP to see the USB 2.0??

If I recall, Microsoft released USB 2.0 drivers after WinXPs' release. You should be able to find them @ Microsoft.com. There wouldn't be a seperate driver on your MB driver CD.

I appreciate the link and all but according to the "NOTE" this driver is only good for the mobo with the 8235 southbridge and my KT3 ultra has the 8533 southbridge. The patch looks like it might be something but how do I install it?

I am really puzzled at how to get the USB 2.0 working. SP! is installed but as you can see above, It didn't install the drivers for USB 2.0 and if that patch on the MSI site is it, then how do I install it and how do I know WHICH of the above to install it to?

I believe your board uses NEC USB 2.0 so use the NEC USB 2.0 drivers that are on the same page in the same link above,(they`re listed) check your manual it should say if it uses NEC USB 2.0.

Update it says for NEC USB 2.0 drivers for XP ,Note: For WinXP, please use Microsoft Windows Update to download driver from Microsoft or aquire the latest service pack

i had the same problem with my MSI KT266PRO 2-RU
it has the same usb 2.0 chip like the MSI KT3 Ultra
i downloaded the usb 2.0 patch from Windows Update and.... voila!!!
it works.
basically all i'm telling you is to download the usb 2.0 drivers from Windows Update
