here's the setup:
Athlon XP1600
256mb 2700 ram
Iwill XP333
Maxtor 40gig
Geforce 3 Ti200 (gainward)

Here's the problem:
About 2 days ago whenever I click on a shortcut, go to the start menu, and well pretty much do anything, I get an error that says Windows Explorer has caused a fatal error. The screen will go blank for a sec, the icons will reappear, then everything will be fine. But eventually I will get the error again. I scanned for viruses (updated fully) and got no results. I did install new sounds card drivers about 4 days ago so I removed them but still get the error. Am I missing something?

I'm having a similar problem with:

Wink2k Pro
Athlon 1.2 ghz
256 mb sdram
tnt2 m64
maxtor drives

Again, it just started a while ago, I think after a set of updates. The difference is that I have a lot of developer tools installed, so I get annoying "Do you want to debug the application" popups. Its a bad memory read, but I dont know what causes it.

i remember that back when i had VC++ installed in windows. explorer crashing can happen for about a billion reasons, and usually there is no way to figure out exactly what's going on. try reinstalling drivers, try updating windows, try repairing the install....try everything till it works :p so illogical :/
